Episode 38 of OVO Sound Radio aired on Apple Music’s Beats 1 airwaves on Saturday night (Feb. 18). Delayed by an hour, it turns out the extended wait was well worth it as the show kicked off with an exclusive one-on-one interview with DJ Semtex.

More Life

Continue after the jump….

Recorded in London on Monday, the two discussed Drake’s breakout mixtape So Far Gone, when he knew Lil’ Wayne was going to sign him, and his early relationship with Dr. Dre. Fast forwarding to 2016, Drake spoke on the release of VIEWS following his 2015 beef with Meek Mill and his defensive state, “One Dance” being the center piece of VIEWS and putting out “Pop Style” at the same time because he didn’t know how people would react.

The Canadian superstar also touches on recording an album with Kanye and then being insulted during one of his Pablo rants. The 30-year-old gave his thoughts on winning two GRAMMYs, Chance the Rapper’s victories, and making the right choice staying in the UK instead of going to attend the awards. Drizzy opened up on his working relationship with Quentin Miller for If You’re Reading, This It’s Too Late, Meek Mill catching feelings over Nicki Minaj which started their 2015 beef, ghostwriting, never feeling the urge to defend himself, DJ Drama’s involvement in the Meek Mill beef, the creation of “Back to Back,” and if there’s a resolution between himself and Meek like Jay Z and Nas’ beef.

Drake details the start of his relationship with Skepta and how the British rapper getting him to jump on WizKid’s “Ojuelegba” remix opened him up to do records like “Controlla” and “One Dance.” Drizzy also touched on how jumping on Santan Dave’s “Wanna Know” came together, critics on social media saying he took XXXTentacion’s flow for the More Life song featuring Giggs that he debuted in London, the “playlist” tag for More Life, his relationship with Giggs and the U.K. rapper appearing on two More Life tracks.

The two end their interview speaking on OVO Sound Radio and the platform it created starting from the OVO blog years ago, breaking new music from artists on the label and more.
