Fat Joe Talks Terror Squad History, Past Beefs with Jay Z, Cuban Link & 50 Cent Friendship

Fat Joe is everywhere. With Plata O Plamo finally in stores, the veteran MC paid a visit to HOT 97 on Wednesday night (Mar. 1) to catch up with long-time friend Funkmaster Flex. The two-hour interview starts off with a timeline of Joe Crack’s life from hustling in the streets to the late Chris Lighty signing his first deal with Relativity Records in the early 90s. The Bronx MC broke down being in the rap collective Diggin’ In The Crates ( D.I.T.C.), the beginning of Terror Squad, discovering Big Pun, going into deep depression when Big Pun passed away, the late rapper bringing Remy Ma into their crew and more.

The 46-year-old breaks down how Jay Z appeared on the “All the Way Up” remix and how running into each other at various events was the start of ending their past beef. Staying on the topic of beefs and rap battles, Joe touches on the never ending issues between him and Big Pun’s wife and former Terror Squad rapper Cuban Link.

Joe from the Bronx also delves into his new great friendship with 50 Cent, throwing a private birthday party for the G-Unit CEO, if their new bromance affects Joe’s ties to Murder Inc. and Ja Rule, and how Irv Gotti brought his biggest hit (“What’s Luv”) to him while still reeling after Big Pun’s death. Fat Joe closes the interview off by breaking down Remy Ma’s current beef with Nicki Minaj and the track “ShETHER” being a response to Nicki’s “Make Love” verse which Joe says was being labelled behind-the-scenes as a Remy diss track.
