In March 2014, Nas brought his iconic 1994 album Illmatic to the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. to celebrate its 20th anniversary — and to also give it the classical version it deserved. Joined by the National Symphony Orchestra, the Queens MC performed his debut LP in its entirety during a historic night for both hip-hop and concert, which was aired on PBS earlier this year. Now, Nas is bringing the performance right to our ears with this special edition of Illmatic, which just so happened to turn 24 yesterday. No better way to celebrate the continued legacy of one of the greatest rap records ever made.
