Beyoncé’s Shares Inspiring Speech After Winning the CFDA Fashion Icon Award
After breaking records on the Billboard charts with her latest album, LEMONADE, Beyoncé continued to slay in the fashion world last night by collecting the Fashion Icon Award at the 2016 CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Awards at NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom.
Decked out in a black wide-brimmed hat and sparkly Givenchy Couture suit, Queen Bey gave a powerful and inspiring acceptance speech about how fashion is “so much deeper than any brand name.” In a particularly moving moment, Bey recalled how her cash-strapped grandmother had to handcraft the uniforms at her mother’s Catholic school just to keep her mother in school.
