Following on from their soulful single ‘High School’, Rugby-based hip hop trio 2U4U return with the title track from their forthcoming EP ‘DRUGBY’. The song is an ode to the hip-hop supergroup Crooklyn Dodgers and a call to action for representing your town, your creed and your talent.
Through the rhythmic production and atmospheric sirens in the opening moments of ‘DRUGBY’, the listener is immediately transported to an urban setting. As the track progresses, characters and personal stories are gradually introduced, brought to life with the vivid and poised bars from My Rugema.
They explain further, “DRUGBY is a reflection of the underbelly of a suburban town. It’s a moody reflection of what it’s like to grow up in an environment where you don’t fit in – between the private schools and the crime rings – and finding your own through hip-hop and storytelling.”
