The R&B singer returns with his third studio album, Since I Have A Lover, after an absence of four years.
After “four years of self-doubt, depression, bad relationships, creativity blocks, homelessness, and money problems,” the 19-track compilation acts as a “therapy session,” he tells USA Today.
Friends and family members are also featured on SIHAL, including as Don Toliver, Wale, and QUIN (“wunna dem”), 6LACK’s girlfriend. The album was preceded by a string of singles, including “Fatal Attraction,” “Talkback,” which sampled Sting, and the album’s title tune.
‘Each record has been a depiction of where I’ve been,’ 6LACK told Hot 97. This record is me finally admitting that improving yourself is something I do constantly. I have the knowledge necessary to succeed even if I am not physically present. I’ve gained a lot of insight since 2016. In comparison to 2018, I have a much heightened sense of awareness. I know that there will be times when things are less than ideal. It’s possible to experience extreme highs and lows throughout the course of a single day.
Later this year, 6LACK will go on a globe tour to share his story with fans. ‘We may go through each record and advance from one mood to another one, and finally conclude the concert on the greatest note,’ he remarked.
