A$AP Rocky was detained upon his arrival at Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday morning (April 20).
NBC News reports the rapper, born Rakim Mayers, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon in connection of a November 2021 shooting, that was previously not reported. Mayers was handcuffed and taken into custody after arriving on a private plane from Barbados, where he had been on vacation with Rihanna.
The LAPD made the arrest with assistance from Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations team.
According to the Los Angeles Police Departments. Rocky’s being investigated in the shooting near Vista Del Mar and Selma Ave back on November 6. The shooting victim claims that A$AP, who was walking with two others, approached him with a handgun on the street and fired three to four times which left a bullet grazed on the victim’s left hand.
TMZ has since reported that the alleged shooting stemmed from an argument between the two. After taken into custody, SWAT delivered a search warrant at the rapper’s home. A$AP has since been released on a $550,000 bond.
A$AP Rocky and Rihanna are expecting their first child.
