Aaron Taylor joins forces with Benny Sings for the soulful new single “Shooting Star.”
Announcing the independent release of his debut album ‘Icarus,’ Aaron has also decided to gift us with the brand new single “Shooting Star” featuring cult Dutch artist Benny Sings, who is signed to LA’s experimental soul and rap label Stone’s Throw. The follow up to last month’s Lalah Hathaway featured ‘Don’t Leave Me Alone’, ‘Shooting Star’ is testament to Taylor’s musicality as he takes on the soulful and jazzy track.
The single showcases Taylor’s ability to adapt his creative process whilst working with vastly different collaborators yet always maintaining his original vision, as he explains and Benny Sings elaborates;
‘Icarus’ was recorded in Taylor’s own studio at home “It’s just a little humble room – I’ve still got one of my wardrobes in there” and is a record about intimacy in its various forms. “It’s about wanting to be closer to someone or something – possibly even at your peril,” reveals Taylor.
The 11 tracks about desire and longing in relationships, career and spirituality now seem somewhat bittersweet after the age of social distancing. “It’s really weird,” comments Taylor of the uncanny timing. “It’ll resonate so much more.”
