Adele’s ’25’ Makes History.
It’s now official, Adele has made history. The U.K. singer’s long-awaited new album 25 sold a staggering 3.38 million copies in its first week in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music. Lead by the single “Hello,” 25 becomes the largest single sales week for an album since Nielsen began tracking music purchases in 1991.

The previous record, held by *NSYNC’s 2000 No Strings Attached which debuted with 2,416,000 sold opening week, was broken by Adele in just a little over three days.
25 becomes the first album to ever sell 3 million copies in one week, and becomes the 20th album to ever sell one million copies opening week. It’s already the biggest selling album of 2015, surpassing Taylor Swift’s 1989 which sold 1.8 million.
Adele’s previous album 21 spent 24 non-consecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200, selling 11.2 million copies in the U.S., becoming the 10th-largest selling album in Nielsen history.
The British songstress recently announced her 22-date European tour, kicking off in February 2016.
