Alicia Keys’ new album HERE debuted No. 2 on the Billboard 200 album chart this week. Serving as a judge on the current season of The Voice, the Grammy Award-winning songstress took advantage of the platform with millions tuned in on Tuesday night (Nov. 16). Instead of promoting her album, Keys set an example for contestants, using the stage and viewership for a greater cause.
Alicia originally intended to perform the single “Blended Family (What You Do for Love),” a song in which the 35-year-old just released a music video for. After giving a 35-second live acapella rendition, Keys switched things up. “Due to the current climate, there is only one song I can sing, and that’s ‘Holy War,’” she said before breaking into “Holy War,” a perfect song choice in lieu of recent events in America following the 2016 presidential election.
