South London collective And What? LDN, today release their new compilation album “Vol. 1” after 4 years and 100+ events all over the UK.
Best known for one of the capital’s top live nights, their monthly cypher fuelled Hip Hop/Grime
event Rise of the MC at renowned Hip Hop venue Chip Shop Brixton, the crew of young
creatives has hosted names like De La Soul’s DJ Maseo, Ty, Pato Banton, Logic People’s Army
and Toya Delazy at their gigs, as well as Greentea Peng, Mysdiggi (Mystro), Shumba Youth
(Reggae Roast), LeeN (Lyricist Lounge fame) and now Harleighblu.
“This release represents a mere snippet of the eclectic medley of musical genres and styles present within our collective. Our events are designed to be a musical journey and we hope to capture that essence with this studio produced mixtape.” – And What? Celebrating “Vol. 1”, And What? will host a launch party at Hootananny Brixton on the same day, headlined by neo-soul rising star and this years’ SXSW playing act Harleighblu, alongside freestyle specialist Fattima Mahdi and And What? resident DJs Gonan, Calaida and JOEL DEEP. The evening will see a special showcase medley of the album, featuring all 12 tracks vocalists and MCs live. Plus the first chance to purchase the album on a special USB version. “Vol. 1” can be streamed and downloaded on all platforms.
