A$AP Yams has reportedly passed away.
Some very tragic news arrives this Sunday morning, as we learn that 26-year-old A$AP Mob founder ASAP Yams has passed away. No details are yet known of the reasons for his death, but many friends and collaborators — including ASAP rocky and ASAP Ferg — have shared their condolences on social media.
Yams — real name Steven Rodriguez — formed the group in 2007, with Rocky coming on board in 2008. He’s always played a large role in the beat selection, and general creative choices in the crew’s releases. His RealN–gaTumblr blog was a favorite among critics and artists alike, revealing himself as a tastemaker early on.
