Afrobeats superstar Ayra Starr lit up the stage at the Global Citizen Festival in New York City, proving once again why she’s one of the boldest voices of African Gen Z. At just 23, Ayra brought her world-class stage presence to the purpose-driven event, delivering a set stacked with empowering anthems.

She kicked things off with the unapologetic “Bloody Samaritan”, before running through crowd favourites like “Woman Commando”, “Hot Body”, and her GRAMMY-nominated smash “Rush.” Blending Afro-fusion hits with raw emotion, Ayra closed her solo set with a heartfelt mash-up of “All The Love” and Coldplay’s “Strawberry Swing.”
The night reached another level when she brought out Rema for a surprise performance of “Rush,” “Calm Down,” and “Baby (Is It A Crime).” Together, they called on fans to shine a light on Africa’s fight for energy access — a key focus of this year’s festival.
