Ayra Starr releases a new music video for her track ’Sare’.
The Don Jazzy produced track is taken from her her self-titled EP which was released in Jan of this year. ‘Sare’ is an anthemic, brassy and stadium-ready number blending contemporary Afro-pop with traditional Nigerian folk music interpolating The Lijadu Sisters 1979 classic ‘Orere Elejigbo’.
The accompanying visual re-imagines the track’s themes of young love, intimacy and infatuation through an afrofuturist lens neatly referencing innovative output like Janelle Monae’s ‘Dirty Computer’, Beyoncé’s ‘Black Is King’ and Missy Elliott’s ‘Throw It Back’.
