Beyoncé Makes History, Earns Sixth No. 1 Album with ‘LEMONADE’

Beyoncé Makes History.

Beyoncé’s reign at the top continues. The superstar songstress had the world in her palms last weekend, dropping her surprise visual album LEMONADE during an HBO special. The 34-year-old’s new full-length release has been enjoyed by many, and now it’s officially the No. 1 album in the country.

LEMONADE takes the spot on the Billboard 200 album charts, earning 653,000 equivalent album units (485,000 pure album sales) according to Nielsen Music. The album becomes Beyoncé’s sixth straight No. 1 album, making her the first act in history to have their first six studio albums to top the charts. Queen Bey also becomes the first act to debut atop the list with their first six LPs.

LEMONADE now joins Beyoncé’s self-titled 2013 album, 4 (2011), I Am… Sasha Fierce (2008), B’Day (2006) and her 2003 debut Dangerously In Love, all landing No. 1 on the album charts.

Her new No. 1 won’t last long as it’s expected Drake’s VIEWS album is projected to sell 1 million copies opening week when the final numbers are in next week. In other news of the charts, the late Prince has five albums that currently sit in the top 10, including The Very Best of Prince greatest hits collection, that falls to No. 2 with 391,000 units sold.
