Birdman’s legal war with Lil Wayne takes another totally unexpected turn. Hours after we learned that Baby most probably conspired with Young Thug and the incarcerated Peewee Roscoe to kill Weezy or at least shoot at his tour bus, the leader of Cash Money revealed he is suing Jay Z and TIDAL over his signee’s newly-released Free Weezy Album.
According to TMZ, CMR is suing the platform for $50 million – around the same amount of money Tunechi is demanding from Birdman and his imprint – over streaming Wayne’s latest album. Cash Money claims the Hov-helmed service does not have the exclusive rights to stream Wayne’s work and is an illegal intermeddle which is resorting to “a desperate and illegal attempt to save their struggling streaming service.”
TIDAL, on the other hand, has claimed Cash Money does not own the rapper’s music exclusively and he gave it the right to stream his music in return for part ownership in the company. Birdman’s label claims exactly the opposite – Weezy does not have the power to license his music to any other party. Not to mention Cash Money trashes FWA, emphasizing it has received “tepid reviews.”
