Bobby Shmurda is officially a free man!
A little over six years ago to this day Bobby Shmurda, Rowdy Rebel, and 13 other members of their GS9 crew got arrested during a recording session in NYC’s Quad Studios. Bobby himself was hit with a litany of charges — one count of conspiracy in the second degree, three counts of conspiracy in the fourth degree, one count of reckless endangerment, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and one count of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree — and faced anywhere from eight to 25 years in prison. Bobby would then get another four-sentence, stemming from a contraband case in which his girlfriend smuggled a homemade knife to him during a 2015 visit to Rikers Island.
However, he accepted a plea deal in 2016 and received seven years (with credit for two years already served). As it turns out, Bobby took the deal so that his friend, Rowdy Rebel, could get less. That resulted in Rebel being released December 15, 2020. Now, after “6 years, 2 months, 5 days, and 5.5hrs” Bobby has officially been released from prison.
