Self-proclaimed ‘King Of The North’ Bugzy Malone has delivered his first release of 2020, ‘Cause A Commotion’, a gritty track featuring Skip Marley.
Produced by Toddla T, ‘Cause A Commotion’ is sonically a stark contrast from the Grime sounds of Bugzy’s previous work. ‘Cause A Commotion’ sees Bugzy experiment with dancehall undertones which is further complemented by the addition of Skip Marley, grandson of the Reggae luminary Bob Marley.
Prior to its official release, the track secured first plays with Annie Mac’s as her ‘Hottest Record’ and BBC 1xtra as DJ Target featured it as his ‘Target Embargo’.
The accompanying video, directed by acclaimed Nigerian director/photographer Meji Alabi, who has previously helmed visuals for Skepta, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage and GoldLink, portrays Jamaica in an authentic manner. Seeking to highlight the country’s socio-political complexities while celebrating its many cultural signatures.
The cinematic nature of the visual lends itself well to Bugzy’s recent transition into film where he recently starred alongside A-List actors Matthew McConaughey and Hugh Brant in the Guy Ritchie-led ‘The Gentleman’.
