BURNA BOY has collaborated with Saint Kittian musician Byron Messia on a new track called “Talibans II,” which offers a fresh take on Messia’s breakout smash “Talibans.” The two musicians also filmed a music video for the song, which was shot in Jamaica and shows them hanging out at a beachside resort. The video was released alongside the song.
The original version of “Talibans” was released by Messia earlier this year as a part of his No Love project. The song immediately became number one on the charts, reaching that position on Apple Music in thirteen different countries, and the music video for it received tens of millions of views on YouTube.
Love, Damini was Burna Boy’s sixth studio album, and it was released in the summer of 2018. Ed Sheeran, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Khalid, J Balvin, and a number of other artists made guest appearances during the event. Rolling Stone referred to the 19-track long-playing album as “an urgent, heartfelt, and immensely personal snapshot of his struggles, triumphs, and aspirations” and predicted that it would “surely introduce Burna Boy’s expansive sounds and high-minded hymns to an even broader audience.”
Since then, he’s been featured on a number of albums with other artists, including the latest J Hus. His song “Alone” was featured on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever album.
The Nigerian musician Burna Boy became the first African artist to headline at New York’s Citi Field earlier this month. More than forty thousand people showed up to hear the musician perform, making him the first African musician to do so in the United States. This achievement followed Burna Boy’s historic 2022 sold-out performance at Madison Square Garden, when he made history as the first Nigerian musician to headline the legendary stadium.
