California soul man Cliff Beach presents his brand new single ‘Sunday Morning’, and it’s a bumping and bombastic beat dripping with Anderson Paak influences, that sees Cliff testify about addiction and trying to do the ‘right’ thing.
Lyrically he shares the relatable scene of waking up on a Sunday with regrets over what he’d done the night before and reflects on his actions. Musically it’s funky as hell with a behemoth of a beat underneath Cliff’s almost preacher-like, pitch-perfect delivery of the hooks.
Regarding the decision to record “Sunday Morning”, Beach shares that “Sunday Morning is about recovering from addiction. Being sober for one year now I reflect on past regrets, bad decisions, and wanting to forget them. I hit a point in my life where I realized I needed a change, for physical and mental health reasons and I hopped on the wagon, cold turkey, which is hard to do as alcohol flows heavily at shows and social gatherings. I believe you have the power to change what you can if you want to and this song supports and echoes that message, moving away from death and destruction and moving towards life and holistic health & wellness.
I know pretty much everyone does a “new year, new you” campaign around this time of year. I wanted to drop this tune in particular since the biggest thing I’ve done to find my new self was getting sober – and if I can do it so can you. I know times are crazy and booze seems like the answer, but if you think you might have a problem, you probably do. Find help, it’s out there for you. It’s Sunday Morning – time to come correct, with your “A” game.”
