Rising DJ and producer Cuppy follows on from her recent cult hit “Currency” with new release “Werk” – enlisting Nigerian Afro hip-hop duo, Skuki (composed of brothers Tumininu and Atewologun).
The DJ, producer and artist comes through with a playful, light flute-flecked instrumental, showcasing some coy bars as well as solid verses from Skuki.
Following collaborations with the likes of L.A.X. and Sarkodie, Skuki – veterans in Nigerian hip hop, deliver the perfect balance to Cuppy’s playful wordplay over an infectious hook. Cuppy is one of the brightest emerging stars across Africa and has picked up serious tastemaker support across the likes of COMPLEX, PAPER MAGAZINE and THE FINANCIAL TIMES amongst others. With her entrepreneurial nous making her ambassador for some of the world’s biggest brands, her tastemaker Cactus parties in London continue to maintain her street credentials, forming the profile of a young, tastemaker and plug operating at the forefront of the African scene and beyond.
Showcasing yet another dimension to her artistic repertoire with this new heater, Cuppy is cementing relevant comparisons to the likes of Mr. Eazi in term of the amount of airmiles she’s running down from Lagos to London to NYC – you’ll be hearing a lot more from Cuppy in 2018 make no mistake.
