Dame Dash recently took to Instagram to share his thoughts on JAY-Z’s latest legal maneuver involving their former record label, Roc-A-Fella Records. The tension between the two longtime business partners reignited after JAY-Z filed a notice indicating that the rights to his iconic 1996 album Reasonable Doubt will transfer from Roc-A-Fella to his own possession in 2031.

Dame, who has been attempting to sell his stake in Roc-A-Fella to cover a court-ordered judgment related to copyright infringement and defamation against movie producer Josh Weber, addressed the situation candidly in his Instagram rant.

“I don’t expect just anyone to buy it — or even my third of it,” Dame said. “I don’t want to risk another lawsuit. It seems like nobody wants me to sell, but I’m ready to move on. I had a judgment to pay, so I figured, ‘That’s 800 grand — go get it from over there.’ They haven’t been paying me either! So, they handled the debt for me, and now I can sell it. It all worked out in the end. There’s always some twist, though. I don’t understand why some things happen, but I do know why for others.”

Dame then directed his frustration at JAY-Z, revealing some behind-the-scenes details. “They had some lame board meeting, and suddenly he’s given first right of refusal. Honestly, it doesn’t affect me. I’m still moving forward,” he stated. “I’m curious to see if he’ll match the offer I’ve got on the table, but that offer didn’t come from him. It came from others.”

The auction for Dame’s shares is set to take place on August 29, leaving the outcome in suspense.
