Canadian based, singer-songwriter Dani Saldo drops off her new release “Friends Don’t” which premiered on her 21st birthday.
A super catchy and commercial pop tune, ‘Friends Don’t’ is simply made for radio play,
having all the ingredients needed to make it a mainstream hit. As if lifted straight from the pages
of her diary, Dani’s lyrical content is openly honest, genuine and relatable as she effortlessly
laments on young love and self-discovery via moody melancholia and dreamy beats, oozing
with a knowing nostalgia.
Discussing the creation of sound and perfecting the vibe for her debut Dani invites us to delve
even deeper as she explains,
“I really wanted this song to sound like the dreamy little suburbia I grew up in. As if by
Dani Saldo
listening to it, you could be transported there. I had this image of creating sounds that
reminded me of biking to high school, seeing the blue sky alongside the townhouses as
I passed by. There’s a key jingle in the second verse that pays homage to all the late
night drives my friends and I would go on, talking about our dreams and aspirations.”
