Dave East and Grammy-nominated production duo Mike & Keys have teamed up for their latest collaborative effort, “APT 6E,” a project that blends reflective storytelling with present-day celebration. Since 2019, this dynamic trio has consistently delivered timeless music, highlighted by critically acclaimed projects like “HDIGH,” “Karma 3,” “Fortune Favors The Bold,” and “30 For 30.”
Dave East, a multi-talented rapper, entrepreneur, actor, and athlete, continues to push boundaries with “APT 6E.” This project marks a significant moment for East as he reclaims his independent spirit after parting ways with Def Jam. “APT 6E” not only pays homage to his past but also showcases his growth as an artist.
The album features standout tracks like “So Much Changed,” which flips 2Pac’s “So Much Pain,” and “Dangerous Riddum,” featuring reggae legend Shaggy. Additionally, the project includes a new video for “God Produced It,” further cementing the collaboration’s impact.
Dave East reflects on the significance of the title, sharing, “I lived in APT 6E at the Ravenswood Houses in Queens from 2010-2016. It’s where I recorded most of my mixtapes and where I lived when I signed with Nas. So in a way, I grew up in APT 6E.” He continues, “Sonically, production from Mike & Keys always pushes me as an artist. I’m grateful the collaboration came to life.”
Mike & Keys express their pride in the collaboration, stating, “We love working with our brother Dave, and our catalog together is something we are really proud of. ‘APT 6E’ is a soundtrack for Dave’s walk down memory lane, and maintaining that nostalgic energy from start to finish is something we feel like we accomplished.”
Featuring guest appearances from Shaggy, Buddy, Kurupt, and Stacy Barthe, “APT 6E” is entirely produced by Mike & Keys, ensuring a cohesive and nostalgic sonic experience. This project is a testament to the enduring partnership between Dave East and Mike & Keys, offering fans a rich blend of past and present vibes.
