Davido returns with his 4th studio album ‘Timeless.’
The absence of Davido in recent months has been keenly felt across the entire African entertainment business, not just in Nigeria. We all miss his ginger-ness so much. The enthusiastic response of his admirers both in and outside of Africa to the news of his comeback to the music scene was indicative of this.
Something extraordinary accompanied Davido’s homecoming. He carried with him the new record he has been working on while gone. Last week’s statement caused a worldwide outpouring of excitement from the millions of admirers. Davido, like the Hebrew women, kept his promise and released an album on the promised date, despite widespread scepticism in the wake of the delay culture that has plagued Nigeria’s music industry in recent years.
Davido, a global sensation from Nigeria, has published his long-awaited third solo record. The album is Davido’s fourth, following ‘A Better Time,’ ‘A Good Time,’ and ‘Omo Baba Olowo (The Genesis),’ and features appearances from Skepta, Angelique Kidjo, Asake, Musa Keys, Focalistic, FAVE, The Cavemen, Dexta Daps, and the newly signed artists on his rebranded DMW 2.0 imprint; Logos Olori and Morravey.
On the opening track of Timeless, titled “Over Dem,” Davido declares once again that he is the “001” of the music business. The next single is called “Feel,” and it features his newest signee, the Port Harcourt-born singer-songwriter Morravey. ‘No Competition,’ featuring YBNL’s best, Asake, ‘Na Money,’ featuring The Cavemen and Angelique Kidjo, ‘U (Juju),’ featuring Skpeta, ‘Kante,’ featuring our FAVE, ‘Picasso,’ featuring Lagos Olori, are all exceptional/must-listen duets on the record.
