20-year-old Lagos, Nigeria born and London based rapper DEELA serves her latest double barrelled singles “Anyways/Whatchu Mean” with her trademarks: an unapologetic attitude, clever, yet amusing punchlines, and sheer candour.
The impressive tracks showcases DEELA’s confident styles as she flows through the tracks with eases. On focal track, “Anyways,” she uses brilliant wordplay: “He ringing me up a rainy day/But I’m only with him when it’s payday,” and alludes to biblical references while describing her love life: “Betray ‘em like Judas yeah that’s why I kiss ’em.” Displaying range, she pivots into a rapid-fire flow on an ode to her detractors entitled “Whatchu Mean.” Supported by Pi’erre Bourne-inspired beats, DEELA’s powerful delivery and smooth bars shine throughout.
