Desiigner, Young M.A & Stormzy Crowned Forbes’ Hip-Hop Cash Princes

Hip-Hop Cash Princes: Desiigner, Young M.A, D.R.A.M. And The Class of 2017

Bryson Tiller, Tory Lanez and Lil’ Yachty lead Forbes’ 2017 Hip-Hop Cash Princes list. After the likes of Fetty Wap, G-Eazy, Joey Bada$$ and Metro Boomin made last year’s list, the latest edition features a mix of singers and rappers ranging from locations worldwide.

G.O.O.D. Music’s Desiigner, Lil’ Uzi Vert and Isaiah Rashad all make the 2017 cut. “Vocal texture is the main thing that stood out to me when I signed him,” says Dave Free of TDE, speaking on Rashad. “His ability to be able to contextualize stories at a young age and be able to do that and understand the range of his vocal abilities sets him apart form any artist that’s out there today … I’m excited to see where he takes it.”

Little Simz, who made last year’s Cash Princes, joined Dave Free and Too $hort as judges on this year’s panel. The U.K. artist gave some words on fellow British artist Stormzy, who just released his debut album Gang Signs & Prayer. “Stormzy gets and understands the bigger picture and isn’t afraid to broaden his horizons,” says Little Simz. “He is an inspiration to many and there no limitations on how far he will take it, because he’s doing this on his own terms.”
