Luton rapper Dibo Brown has unleashed her commanding new single ‘Da Come Up’, out 16th October via Island Records.
Rapping over a sparse yet menacing beat, Dibo delivers a captivating and honest dose of social realism, reflecting on her social situation and how she hopes music will help her move away from the current life she leads.
“The track is based on real-life events. This is how I come up, growing up in the hood and having no choice but to grind,” she explains.
Born and raised in Luton, Dibo’s musical journey started at the age of 13, making freestyles with her friends for fun and drawing inspiration from artists like Wretch 32, Ghetts and Kano. She released her first track in 2016 but it wasn’t until she jumped on Margs’ ‘Pen Game’ challenge in 2018, where her video received overwhelmingly positive feedback and that the reality of her dream seemed attainable.
Winning inaugural Da Come Up UK urban talent competition last year and receiving praise from Grime scene stalwart Giggs in addition to being championed and co-signed by the likes of Buck, Julie Adenuga, Posty and Twin B indicating that this is an artist with serious potential.
Since then she has continued to release hot freestyles, including a GRM Daily Daily Duppy and ‘Blue Lights Freestyle’ taken from Jorja Smith smash ‘Blue Lights’, which was posted by Link Up TV. Dibo also has a Next Up on Mixtape Madness.
One of the brightest shining lights in the UK rap game, Dibo is an artist brimming with confidence and ready to take the scene by storm.
