It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from Diggy Simmons. In fact, his last project was his debut album Unexpected Arrival, which arrived back in 2012. But Rev. Run’s middle son is getting ready to make his comeback with his new LP Lighten Up, which drops on November 9. “I’m tired of feeling like I’m not living in my purpose and being creative,” he recently told XXL of his hiatus. “Doing what I do, going on tour and going on stage and being Diggy. That’s who I wanna be, that’s what I wanna do.”
After serving up samples like “It Is What It Is,” “Anchors” and the Leven Kali-assisted “Text Me,” Diggy teams up with KAYTRANADA on his latest single, “Goin.” The song samples Jimmy Spicer’s “Money (Dollar Bill Y’all)” which, coincidentally, was produced by Diggy’s uncle Russell Simmons and Larry Smith.
