DJ Khaled taps Beyoncé & JAY Z for super collaboration on “Shining”
DJ Khaled’s Major Key was nominated for “Best Rap Album” at the 59th annual Grammy Awards. While he didn’t win, losing to Chance the Rapper’s Coloring Book, Khaled decides to celebrate is a huge way. The We the Best CEO/DJ drops probably his biggest collaboration ever, getting Beyoncé and JAY Z on the song “Shining.”
Written by PARTYNEXTDOOR (Beyoncé’s part) and co-produced by Danja and DJ Khaled, the record is a feel good mid-tempo where Queen Bey leads the track with a verse before handling hook duties. JAY Z contributes a guest verse, where some would say after listening to his verse closely, he maybe responding to Drake’s “Summer Sixteen.” “I know you ain’t out here talkin’ numbers, right?/ I know you not out here talkin summers, right?,” raps Jay. “I know you ain’t around here talkin’ down/ Talkin’ boss shit when you a runner, right?,” he follows soon after.
Premiered by TIDAL, the cover artwork features an image of Khaled’s newborn son Ashad Khaled. Press play on “Shining” below.
