On February 26, 2021, veteran Nigerian producer, Dokta Frabz died in Maryland, USA, where he’s been for a while with his family. But before then, he was one of Nigeria’s most bankable music producers and hitmakers.
Dokta Frabz was part of a very important era in the Nigeria Music Entertainment industry. He worked as a songwriter, music director, sound engineer, produced for several artists from Wizkid to DaGrin and many others.
Dagrin — Nla
Produced for Dagrin off his popular C.E.O album, NLA was one of the tracks on the album that helped Dagrin secure the album of the year at the 2010 Hip-Hop World Music Awards and also help shine more light on Dokta Frabz producing skills.
Dagrin — Thank God (f. Omawumi)
“Thank God’ which also featured on Dagrin’s C.E.O album played a huge part in certifying Dagrin and Dokta Frabz chemistry and the single till today resonates with fans massively. The record also featured Fabz then-girlfriend Omawumi who helped blessed the chorus with her vocals.
YQ — Efimile (f. Dagrin)
This was actually the first single that got people paying attention to Dokta Frabz as a producer and was one of the biggest tracks released in 2010.
Banky W. – Lagos Party
Released in 2009, Lagos Party is arguably the biggest track from Bank W and the song that helped kick start his career as an artist. The single featured on Banky W’s ‘The W Experience’ album.
Banky W – Thief My Kele
Thief My Kele produced by Dokat Frabz also featured on Banky W’s ‘The W Experience’ album which dropped in 2009.
Naeto C – Ako Mi Ti Poju
Naeto C’s single, “Ako Mi Ti Poju” which simply mean “My Shakara/Fresh is too much” in English dropped 2009 and became an anthem.
Wizkid — Joy
The single featured on Wizkid’s ‘Ayo’ album and was one of the stand out tracks loved by fans. Although Wizkid didn’t push this as an official single, he performed the track live in 2014 for BBC 1 Xtra.
In an Instagram interview with UDR TV in 2020, Dokta Frabz said he would love to make more songs like this.
D’Banj — Jasi (f. Wande Coal)
Released in 2007 while working with Mo’Hits Records as an in house producer earlier in his career, Doka Frabz produced Jasi which was a huge record at the time. The instrumental was also the reason he split from the Mo’Hits after Nigerian artist Wired MC also used the same instrumental at a show before Jasi was officially released. Dokta Frabz later addressed the issue in an interview which can be seen here.
