Drake surely doesn’t mind Internet memes about him yet it looks like he doesn’t appreciate when people crack Drake jokes in interviews. Here’s the case: 19-year-old tennis player Nick Kyrgios made gained attention after beating Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon last week. Following his match against Jiri Vesely in the third round, he joked about Drake’s music being responsible for his slow start:
Today was a bit of rap, actually. I came out really flat, so hopefully I won’t listen to that again. It was actually Drake. Yeah. Didn’t do the job for me.”
However, he was not aware that after all Drizzy might respond. During a conference call with reporters last week, Drake said a few words about Nick and his joke. Said Drizzy:
I also want to meet this guy that says that he lost because he listened to my music. I also want to meet that guy and look him in the eye and see exactly who he is as a man and size him up and then chop him right down. Nick whatever-his-name-is – because he didn’t win, so that’s how he’s going to be remembered: Nick whatever-his-name-is.”
Nick Kyrgios quickly took it to Twitter and responded back:
Let’s be clear. I like @Drake – love his music, just said I was a little flat, ended up winning that match. No blame game here.
