With the UK still no closer to reaching an agreement over Brexit, and with Theresa May losing confidence daily there has been an upsurge in young people engaging in politics. Keen to voice the concerns of both the youth and the average person on the street, Drillminister is fast becoming somewhat of a spokesman for this generation who feel their voice is not getting heard.
After going viral with a collaboration project ‘Political Drillin’ with Channel 4 News, he has recently spoken to Sky News, HuffPost, BBC News, BBC 5 Live and lots more, touching on inequality and misrepresentation, knife crime, austerity and generally slamming the UK government and Theresa May on her time in charge. He also performed live on BBC 1’s ‘This Week’ show which was the first ever live performance of a Drill track on UK TV.
His new single ‘No Deal Brexit’ (produced by Drill producer Spud Got Beats) features some trademark dance moves and straight to the point lyrics. It also comes equipped with a music video directed by Channel U veteran, Elmino Films via Mixtape Madness.
As the UK Government bans and removes Drill music videos online, Drillminister incorporates violent language used by current and former MPs in his music to highlight the hypocrisy shown against the genre’s artists – demonstrating that they (politicians) use violence, threats and bullying as much as Drill rappers and young talents but with the aim to ban and blame Drill for the actions of the nation’s youth.
Released through Defenders Ent, Drillminister’s debut mixtape ‘House of Skengs’ is due to drop soon, ahead of a rumoured 2020 Election Campaign.
