The moment we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived. Following three amazing single releases over the course of nine weeks, the moment has come for the final jigsaw pieces to fall into place, making a really stunning musical masterpiece. Eugenia Post Meridiem, the eclectic Italian quartet, is preparing to release their sophomore full-length LP, the magnificently colorful, brilliant celebration of sound like I need a tension, which is now available everywhere.
The all-encompassing, musical odyssey, like I need a tension, is demonstrated throughout eight tracks, and includes the debut hit ‘willpower,’ which exploded across our radar with lashings of personality, and formed the introduction to the now familiar Indie ensemble. The snappy and brave ‘around my neck’ came next, followed by the fascinating, beguiling ‘whisper,’ the quiet before the sophomore album storm.
Listeners will have much to chew on with the addition of five previously unheard treasures. The highlight track ‘crucial spring’ traverses the shadow spectrums, the progressive and percussive ‘unchained will,’ the slow voluminous ballad ‘ocean flows,’ and the catchy, chaotic energy of ‘small views’ and’mazes of gazes.’
Completed over the course of two years, with a two-week post-lockdown composition and recording stint, it was in a tiny converted barn near the town of Montaldo Bormida in northern Italy that like I need a tension finally came to life. “It was an entirely collaborative approach… “Everything was written jointly, right there in the room.” As a result, the demand for tension was formed.
Throughout the eight-track record, the band’s cohesion and connection clearly shows through. As each track is loaded with quality, curiosity, and originality, there is a brave, courageous tenacity to explore and go against the tide.
