Fetty Wap – Wake Up [New Song]

Fetty Wap - Wake Up

Fetty Wap woke up on 4/20 and decided to drop a new single.

Just a day after releasing “My Environment,” the “Trap Queen” star unleashes “Wake Up,” a track off his forthcoming sophomore album slated for the fall.

Even though the song comes on 4/20, it isn’t just a weed anthem. Sure, he mentions getting “Wiz Khalifa high,” but the cut is also a dedication to the class of 2016, giving Fetty an opportunity to reflect on his own school days.

“School was never really important to me,” he writes. “I hated when that alarm clock went off, my moms coming in my room to wake me up. I wanted to do things my own way and school was in the way.

“My eye made it more of a struggle,” he continues. “When you’re different from everyone else, people, especially kids, remind you of that every day. Kids didn’t really rock with me like that. I kept to myself and just tried to stay under the radar. I ended up dropping out without really having a plan.”

So he dedicates this new single to other teens who may be struggling through school while finding their way.

“This song is for everyone that celebrates 4/20 all year, but still passes that math test,” he writes. “This song is for everyone that might not be in the top of their class or most popular but you still know where you’re headed, just riding your own path.”
