Liv East Steps Forward With FUNKSOULSEX
Liv East has been building towards this moment. After a run of impressive releases, the East London artist finally delivers her debut album, FUNKSOULSEX.
Moving between neo-soul, R&B, funk and electronic music, the album takes an unfiltered look at modern relationships — from lust and seduction to longing, vulnerability and the expectations we place on love.
There’s plenty happening musically, but Liv’s songwriting keeps the project grounded. Rather than romanticising every encounter, FUNKSOULSEX explores the blurred space between desire, fantasy and reality, while keeping female autonomy firmly at the centre.
The album arrives alongside an intimate visual for focus track “Lighthouse,” adding another layer to a debut that feels like Liv defining exactly what she wants her sound and storytelling to represent.
Having already earned support from respected names including Moodymann, Jayda G, Conducta and Theo Parrish, Liv now has a full-length project to build on.
Next up is her biggest headline show yet at London’s Jazz Cafe on October 8.
