Genre-bending hip-hop inspired soul artist, |Fritzwa|, releases her video for ” Sittin Pretty ,” the latest single off of her debut album Avenue A. Premiered by Afropunk who compared her sound to Erykah Badu, “Sittin Pretty” is a poetic, vulnerable glimpse into the isolation Fritzwa felt after moving from her home of NYC to Portland, Oregon.
An NYC native who grew up on the Lower East Side, Fritzwa’s musical journey kicked off when she took piano lessons at the historical Third Street Music School Settlement. Now backed by a band of prodigiously gifted jazz artists, Fritzwa has opened for trending acts including Xenia Rubinos, Tei Shi, & Ginuwine. Fritzwa is also an in-demand DJ and has headlined special events at Nike World Headquarters for crowds in excess of 3000 people, celebrating momentous occasions including Serena William’s US Open win.
|FRITZWA|: “When I wrote the song, I’d moved to Portland from New York for a job and I was feeling pretty isolated at the time. My team and I sought out of some of the most scenic places in Oregon and placed me in those spaces, alone. Pretty much a visual depiction of my frame of mind at the time.”
