After quickly rising to prominence as one of the NA’s most promising new female artists, Haviah is back with her newest offering, “Honey Bun/Room Service,” a combined visual masterpiece that is sure to maintain the buzz around her exceptional abilities. The first song, “Honey Bun,” takes us on a journey through Haviah’s reminiscences of a prior love affair, as she sings of the passion, wonder, longing, and illusion she had while pleading with her lover to stay. The album then abruptly shifts to “Room Service,” a scene anthem studded with bouncing synthesisers and seductive afro-swing textures, providing a sensuous backdrop for Haviah’s appealing cadence that shines brighter when colliding with a new discovered love.
The video, directed by Fela (Kendrick Lamar, Rosalia, Rihanna), is exceptionally well-produced, and the images wonderfully capture Haviah’s Caribbean roots as they float between intimate moments of love past and present, depicting a thrilling love triangle that finally comes to a crashing conclusion.
