The 2021 BRIT Awards took place last night (May 11) at London’s O2 and we were treated to several performances from amazing acts.
North London’s Headie One took to the stage and performed a medley of songs from his 2020 album EDNA.
He kicked off the performance in a box designed by Virgil Abloh with smeared newspaper clippings highlighting the colours of the Ghana flag with his hit single “Ain’t It Different” alongside AJ Tracey. Stormzy was unavailable so the pair decided to use the third verse to speak on how key workers needed to be recognised more, Marcus Rashford’s campaign to feed the kids at school and drill music.
- “Team work keeps the dream working. It’s only right we show love to the key workers”
- “The government is saying eat out to help out but won’t help out Rashford when he’s feeding the youths”
- “What else can a drill youth rap about part from my worst days. You see me on stage but I was in jail for 3 of my birthdays”
- “Two black brits stand here at the BRITS but still we ain’t seen as British”
Headie wrapped up his performance with Young T & Bugsey to perform his their stand out single “Princess Cuts.”
