Even 11 years and more than a dozen projects after his death, we probably haven’t even scratched the surface of J Dilla’s unreleased stash. The latest joint to be lifted from the late producer’s vaults is this thumping instrumental dubbed “Ghetto Wishing,” which appears in a new documentary from director Gus Sutherland called The Unseen: A Detroit Beat Tape.
The film, made up of VHS footage from the ’90s, explores the roots of Detroit hip-hop production. Dilla appears in the trailer below, alongside the likes of House Shoes, Waajeed and Quelle Chris.
