Listen To Late J Dilla’s New Song “The Introduction”.
This month marked the 10th anniversary of both J Dilla’s passing and the release of his revered instrumental album Donuts, but now it’s time to look forward, not back, for Dilla heads. Zane Lowe announced on Beats 1 Radio today that the late producer’s long lost — and long-awaited — vocal album, The Diary, is finally dropping this year. The project features contributions from the likes of Snoop Dogg, Bilal, Madlib, Pete Rock and Nottz, and will be released through Nas’ Mass Appeal Records.
What’s more, Zane Lowe even premiered a new track off The Diary called “The Introduction,” which you can hear below.

“Anthem,” featuring Frank N Dank, was the first single released from The Diary three years ago. The album was initially set to drop via J Dilla’s Pay Jay imprint in Spring 2013, but it’s unclear what caused the delay.
