In honour of Jamal Edwards MBE’s extraordinary service to the music business, the Music Industry Trusts Award (MITS) will be given to him this year. On Monday, November 7th, a gala event conducted in the Grosvenor House Hotel in support of the BRIT Trust, Nordoff Robbins, and The Jamal Edwards Self Belief Trust will deliver the prize to Edwards’ family.
Last-minute tickets available at www.mitsaward.co.uk
The performers participating on this special night have been revealed in advance of this year’s MITS and they are Mahalia, Little Simz, Jorja Smith, and Max Cyrus
Each artist will pay their own personal tribute to him with their performances, and this year’s MITS will be a collective moment to celebrate Jamal as one of the music industry’s most loved figures.
Quote from Mahalia here:
“The first time I met Jamal I was 12 in a field at Bestival. At first he kind of looked at me like I was crazy and then he smiled and said “Go on then.” A year later, he put me on SB.TV for my first official online performance. He was one of the first people to truly believe in me and give me a platform and I will always feel somehow indebted to him for that. His impact on popular music and where the industry is today really can’t be overstated. Love you forever Jam.” – Mahalia
