When it comes to shutting sh&t down in the grime scene, there’s only one Lord of the Mics: Jammer!
Created in celebration of 10 years of Lord of the Mics, the legendary grime series has risen through the underground ranks, playing a huge role in the current re-emergence of the genre. Consistently hitting the Official UK Charts with their releases over the last three years, Jammer is now gearing up to release the 7th installment of Lord of the Mics on the 25th September – and there had to be one super sick anthem to go alongside it!
Calling up 12 of the most famed and elite grime emcees from the past decade, Jammer takes it back to the roots of grime. The energy, the disregard for rules and the hype get smashed around 13 back-to-back verses of pure, unadulterated hype bars, taglines and 140 bpm, produced by Mystry.
In Jammer’s words: “With ‘Royal Rumble’ I was trying to capture the essence of what our music was about 10 years ago. With a lot ofartists from the underground, they get signed and the music becomes structured. I wanted to ignore formula – who says you have to have a chorus? This is lyrics for the rave and getting influential people alongside those people who’ve been putting the work in lately, bringing it to the fore.”
Available to download immediately on iTunes with any pre-order of Lord of the Mics 7, Royal Rumble sits alongside another 22 tracks on the CD compilation, which boasts exclusives from Giggs, Shorty, Footsie, D Double E, Flowdan and more…. Then there’s the clashes!
With a huge 10 battles, instead of the usual six, Jammer and Lord Of The Mics co-founder Ratty, deliver some game changing moments. Old rivals Jaykae and Kozzie take it back to the basement and for the first time ever, it goes all out in the first male/female clash seeing Sox and Lady Lykez go head to head, which is not only available on the DVD but an exclusive glimpse at what’s to come is available as Lord Of The Mics 7 goes LIVE at the o2 Academy Islington on September 23rd (tickets available via lordofthemics.com )
