Meek Mill’s anticipated new album CHAMPIONSHIPS dropped on Friday (Nov. 30) and immediately various records off the project has created a stir on social media. One of those songs, “What’s Free,” is already being praised by fans as the crown jewel of the album. Rick Ross and JAY-Z are featured on the record, where along with Meek they trade verses over Streetrunner’s sampling of The Notorious B.I.G.’s “What’s Beef.” JAY-Z’s verse instantly created a stir online, for many reasons including a particular lyric involving Kanye West.

“No red hat, don’t Michael and Prince me and Ye
They separate you when you got Michael and Prince’s DNA, uh
I ain’t one of these house n***as you bought
My house like a resort, my house bigger than yours

In those lyrics (via Genius), listeners and journalists where quick to say the Roc Nation mogul was throwing shots at his past protégé. Soon after, headlines started rolling out pushing that dynamic which forced JAY-Z himself to speak on the song hours later.
In a rare tweet, his first in over a year, JAY-Z knocked down any claims that he was in fact dissing Kanye West. “The line clearly meant don’t pit me against my brothers no matter what our differences are (red hat) now go pick up Meek album. Drake and Meek on there together,” tweeted the 48-year-old.
Kanye West responded to Hov’s comments by simply tweeting “Throne 2” later in the afternoon. The tweet of course suggesting the two reunite for the sequel of their 2011 album Watch the Throne.
