Jay Z’s TIDAL streaming service launches with support from Kanye West, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and more.
If you’re launching a brand new streaming service into a market already dominated by Spotify, having support from some of the world’s biggest artists doesn’t hurt. Thankfully, Jay Z has some friends in high places. At midnight, he launched TIDAL, a streaming service (formerly named Aspiro) that he acquired earlier this month, and had the support of Kanye West, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and other powerful artists.Advertising for the service by turning their Twitter avatars blue and tweeting #TIDALforALL, the star musicians showed their support for Jay’s new venture. The site officially launches in the US at 2 PM EST today, and the service will cost $19.99 a month for hi-fidelity streaming, or $9.99 for standard audio quality. Check out the tweets below.
