Don’t ask Jay Z about the new U.S. President Donald Trump. The mogul/artist appeared at the Sundance Festival on Wednesday (Jan. 25) to promote his upcoming TIME: The Kalief Browder Story documentary series. Before moving inside to speak on a panel, the Roc Nation CEO was asked about President Trump at the end of an interview. “We’re not gonna answer that,” said Jay Z. Harvey Weinstein, Jay Z’s business partner in film, stepped in right. “This is a labor of love for Jay and I. We’re here to talk about that and nothing else,” he said, before the pair walked off.
A man with close ties to former U.S. President Barack Obama, Jay Z campaigned for Hilary Clinton during last year’s presidential race. Once inside and on the panel, the Brooklyn MC spoke on Barack Obama serving as a catalyst to do the documentary, and this being a passion project of his. Doug E. Fresh made a surprise appearance during the on-stage conversation, praising Jay Z and hailing him as a prophet.
TIME: The Kalief Browder Story documentary series premieres March 1 on Spike.
