Earlier this month, cryptic “4:44″ promo ads started appearing online and at various locations across New York City. A day later, a commercial aired during ABC’s coverage of the NBA Finals revealing 4:44 was a film starring Mahershala Ali, Danny Glover and Lupita Nyong’o.
Set to be an exclusive only available to Sprint/TIDAL subscribers, the mysterious campaign lead many to believe a new JAY Z solo album is on the way. The rumors only intensified after new ads were spotted in Hollywood, with a release date of Jun. 30 for 4:44. On Sunday night (Jun. 18), a new trailer released by TIDAL appears to support those rumors. In the 30-second black-and-white clip, Jay can be heard rapping over a piano-based minimalistic beat. The visual, titled “Adnis,” is named after the Brookyln MC’s late father Adnis Reeves.
UPDATE: At midnight, TIDAL, Roc Nation and Sprint all confirmed 4:44 is a new JAY Z album dropping on 6/30 exclusively to TIDAL and Sprint customers.
