Already widely regarded as his best work, the legend of JAY-Z’s The Blueprint continues to grow. Today the National Recording Registry announced that Hov’s 2001 LP is being archived in the Library of Congress alongside other iconic records including Curtis Mayfield’s Superfly, Nina Simone’s “Mississippi Goddam,” and Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September.”

Started in 2002, the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry aims to catalogue sound recordings that are “culturally, historically, or aesthetically important, and/or inform or reflect life in the United States.” N.W.A’s Straight Outta Compton, Run-D.M.C.’s Raising Hell and De La Soul’s 3 Feet High and Rising are among the other hip-hop albums to be archived.
