Joey Bada$$ “Victory” Video

The borough of Brooklyn is solely responsible for producing some of basketball’s greatest stars, from Bernard King down to Michael Jordan, nobody does it like BK. When it comes to rap music, New York City’s most talked about section is no different. The Notorious B.I.G., JAY Z, Lil’ Kim, the list could go on forever — and that includes one Joey Bada$$.

Joey filmed his new “Victory” music video during a live performance for fans during NBA All-Star weekend 2017 at Mountain Dew’s Courtside HQ Event in New Orleans. This landmark collaboration is the first project from the DEWxNBA Courtside Project, a unique collaboration by the NBA and Dew that brings together NBA players and influencers across the worlds of fashion, art and music. NBA stars Russell Westbrook, Devin Booker, CJ McCollum, Myles Turner and Emmanuel Mudiay all make cameos in the visually stimulating flick.

Directed by Shomi Patwary, the video also feature footage of fans at Dew’s all-star event as well some of highlights of the action. The Brooklyn rapper shared his enthusiasm about the project as he discussed his love for both basketball and hip-hop culture.

“I’m excited to be a part of The Courtside Project. It’s the fusion of several different worlds, from basketball to music, style and art, that are not all separate streams anymore, they are interconnected,” said Joey via E-mail. “I always want to encourage the youth to be themselves and pursue their dreams, whether those are hoop dreams, GRAMMY dreams, or PhD dreams.”
