Fresh off his two No. 1 singles (“I’m the One” and “Despacito”), Justin Bieber tries his hand at a remix to Kendrick Lamar’s chart-topper “HUMBLE.,” which he premiered at 1 OAK in New York City on Tuesday (May 23).
Only snippets of the track are available online, but they show Bieber rhyming about everything from former presidents (“It’s that Abe Lincoln, thinkin’ I’m history in the makin’”) to movie characters (“I’m the new Jason Bourne, reborn”).
Plus, the remix finds Biebs reflecting on his chart-topping skills. “I don’t floss about numbers, but I’ma keep it one hundred,” he raps. “Songs over sales, yeah, I push God over money / I know my name’s Justin but justice is coming.”
Justin is no stranger to hip-hop. After teaming up with Ludacris on 2010’s “Baby,” the Canadian crooner has collaborated with a slew of MCs, including Kanye West, Busta Rhymes, Raekwon, Travis Scott, Chance the Rapper, and Young Thug. He’s also made it a point to celebrate one of his favorite rappers of all time, Tupac Shakur.
Bieber is currently on the No. 1 and No. 3 songs in the country with Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito” and DJ Khaled’s star-studded “I’m the One,” which features Lil Wayne, Quavo, and Chano. Meanwhile, Kung Fu Kenny’s “HUMBLE.” — a previous No. 1 — now sits at No. 5 on the Hot 100.
